I read pretty much anything, from fantasy (City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett) to romance (Bared to You by Sylvia Day) to classics (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad). The only genres I don't read are self-help and comic books/graphic novels.
30/7 - I really enjoyed the story, especially the police/detective work, but as with her previous four books; Blowfly, Trace, Predator, and Book of the Dead, I didn't like the way she wrote them all in the 3rd person - it makes it all seem so impersonal. Written in the 3rd person Scarpetta the character in general, as well as Scarpetta the book specifically, seems to have a lot less empathy for the victims because we can no longer read the thoughts Kay has or know what she's feeling. Scarpetta is better than the last four books, but no where near as good as her earliest books. The best part of the book was that she and Benton
(show spoiler). I will continue to buy and read the series (if Cornwell keeps it going) all the while hoping she can get back to the original voice she had in the beginning.
