I read pretty much anything, from fantasy (City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett) to romance (Bared to You by Sylvia Day) to classics (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad). The only genres I don't read are self-help and comic books/graphic novels.
Mum and I saw X-Men: Days of Future Past this afternoon. She had never seen an X-Men movie, I've seen them all. Despite having to ask me in the middle of the movie what character Hugh Jackman played (oh God, facepalm!), she enjoyed it. I think I enjoyed it more, I certainly got more out of it because I understood the in-jokes and past movie references that she didn't get (but she assured me numerous times that she didn't care that she didn't get the jokes, she still had a good time). Both of us loved seeing Peter Dinklage and Evan Peters getting out of tv (I know Dinklage has done a few movies before, but this must be the biggest) and trying their 'blockbuster movie' hats on for size.
