I read pretty much anything, from fantasy (City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett) to romance (Bared to You by Sylvia Day) to classics (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad).  The only genres I don't read are self-help and comic books/graphic novels.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW STOP READING NOW!!!!!!

4/8 - I knew it! I knew that for some reason or other Rose would be unable to kill Dimitri and that it would eventually become unnecessary as another solution to the problem would reveal itself. And of course it involves Victor, which means breaking him out of jail, which will probably lead to an escape and another attempt to use Lissa her for her Spirit healing powers. Everything about Strigoi-Dimitri's imprisonment of Rose gave me an immediate flashback to evil-Angel's controlling/abusive boyfriend behaviour towards Buffy after the season two episode Surprise. The way Strigoi-Dimitri was unable to kill or turn Rose felt exactly the same as the way evil-Angel strung out his 'torture' of Buffy in the last nine episodes of season two. He was constantly 'trying' to kill her but never actually managing, mostly because he had all these grand plans of killing her that never really worked, and never thought to just find her and snap her neck before she had a chance to react (something which would most likely have worked as she hesitated whenever she saw him, the way Dimitri tried to teach Rose not to). I knew that I didn't have to be too worried about Dimitri's turning or his apparent death. I didn't believe he was actually dead, and I was of the strong opinion that if he was dead there would be some spell or something or other that would bring him back (bringing the plot even closer to Buffy's than ever) fitter and more handsome than ever.

Why does Lissa keep attaching herself to unstable girls? First Natalie, now Avery. She really has very bad luck when it comes to secondary girl friends.

I feel Rose was a bit unfair to Adrian. While I'm not a fan of any possibility of a relationship between him and Rose, I do think he isn't too objectionable as a friend, a useful friend - he has knowledge and abilities that no one else in their group of friends does. If he would just stop smoking, he'd be a great friend. I hate smoking IRL and reading about it makes me think I can actually smell it. I find it almost as offensive in books as I do IRL.

I find these books really easy to read and finished this with many hours to spare before the library deadline today. This probably is not the most complimentary comment to make on a book on 503 pages, as it may mean that I skim-read some passages without even noticing or missing details. At the same time, I put a hold on Spirit Bound as soon as I got to the library this morning and I'm practically jigging up and down in anticipation of it being available to pick up.
