I read pretty much anything, from fantasy (City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett) to romance (Bared to You by Sylvia Day) to classics (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad).  The only genres I don't read are self-help and comic books/graphic novels.

The Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead

Last Sacrifice - Richelle Mead

8/8 - Thank goodness this came in so fast (put the hold on last night, picked up this morning), because I don't know how much time and attention I could have given all other books with my brain on two very important questions 'How will Rose get out of this one?' and 'When will Dimitri come to his senses?'

That title is a bit scary though - The Last Sacrifice - there better not be any sacrificing of any of the main characters' lives. That would not a satisfactory ending make. To be continued...

10/8 - Well, that's the end of another fantastic series. I liked the final, murderer is revealed scene at court, but was surprised when Rose woke up and discovered she was missing something. I'm not sure separating Rose and Lissa is a good idea, besides, considering their previous experiences I hardly think they're going to go through the rest of their lives without Rose ever having to save Lissa again and then Lissa having to repay the favour. I was really happy to see the return of Sonya, but was annoyed with Mead at the name change (even if she did explain it at the beginning of the book) - in the previous books Mikhail was going by Tomas. She explained that mistakes happen sometimes, but I don't understand how this mistake happened. She told us that the name Tomas was only used in the international (non US) editions, but why was it changed to begin with. Unless the book needs to be translated into a different language wouldn't an Australian/UK/other English speaking country's version differ from a US version only in different publishing information and maybe a different cover? Why would any name need to be changed?

I've got Bloodlines waiting for me to pick it up at the library on Monday and after reading the back cover blurb for Spirit Bound Mum has shown an interest in starting the series herself, so I've got Vampire Academy waiting to be picked up as well. I'll be interested to see what I think of Sydney as opposed to Rose as the lead character, I hope she doesn't make quite as many (or the same) stupid mistakes that Rose did. I also hope that Rose, Lissa, Christian, and Dimitri make the occasional appearance through this spinoff series, so that the reader can keep track of them and their continuing story.
