Sarah's Library

I read pretty much anything, from fantasy (City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett) to romance (Bared to You by Sylvia Day) to classics (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad).  The only genres I don't read are self-help and comic books/graphic novels.

Get to Know Sarah: 21 Questions

I've done these questionnaire things before, but this one has some new and different questions, so here's another post about ME.

1. Are you named after anyone?

Not a person per se, but a character in a song - Bob Dylan's Sara.  My mum really liked the song around the time I was born and so here I am.

2. When was the last time you cried?

I'm needle phobic and a blood test I had a few months ago was particularly traumatic and caused a panic attack.  I began having hypnotherapy once I knew I was going to have to have surgery and all the associated needles that go along with being in hospital.  Now I can stay relatively calm (compared to a few months ago), although the whole experience is still stressful.

3. Do you have kids?

No.

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

I don't know.  I'm a pretty insular person, so I doubt I would have a chance to meet myself and if I did the other me would find it hard to get to know me.

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Yes, but more in writing than in RL.

6. Will you ever bungee-jump?

Nope.

7. What’s your favorite cereal?

I love the sugar-coated cereals like Nutri-Grain, Froot Loops, and Coco Pops, but they are really bad for a diabetic so I never eat them (I dream about eating them but never do in RL).  I like Rice Bubbles and Corn Flakes.

8. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

This is a terrible thing to admit to, but I notice their looks first.  When I first see a person, before they begin speaking, I take note of the way they're dressed and whether their hair looks clean.  First impressions really do count, which is why I find it hard going out because I figure if I look at others in that way, others are looking at me in that way.

9. What is your eye colour?

Blue (from my father and his side of the family), with green flecks (from my mother and her side of the family).

10. Scary movie or happy endings?

Both.  I like being scared by movies and I like sappy romances.

11. Favorite smells?

Jasmine and daphne flowers.

12. Summer or winter?

Both, but neither of them in Melbourne.  When it's winter I like it to be COLD but sunny, as few dreary, rainy days as possible.  When it's summer I don't like the temperature to go above 28C, Melbourne summers are WAY too hot and, more recently, last too long.

13. Computer or television?

Both.  I tend to use the computer WHILE I watch the tv.

14. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

I'm not sure what's further from Melbourne, Vancouver or France/England/Germany/Austria/Spain.

15. Do you have any special talents?

I'm a really good proof-reader.

16. Where were you born?

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

17. What are your hobbies?

Knitting, cross stitch, tv, movies, reviewing, reading, cooking, singing along to my iPod.

18. Do you have any pets?

Yes.  Currently two dogs and a cat.  As a pair of dogs gets towards their senior years we adopt a pair of puppies who re-enliven (also known as 'annoy') the older pair, so we will always have at least two dogs in the house.  The cat was kind of an 'impulse adopt' when my brother's cat had kittens and Trinity was the last one left from the litter, we probably won't adopt another cat as they just aren't the same as dogs.

19. Favorite movie?

.I don't know where my answer to this went, it was here when I posted this.  Anyway, a close facsimile of what I wrote before is that I have too many favourites to choose just one.  I love anything, from classics like Indiana Jones (the originals) and Star Wars (the originals) to newer stuff like Harry Potter and the Step Up series.

20. Do you have any siblings?

Yes, a younger brother.

21. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I would like to find a way to get paid to do something I really enjoy and am good at - proof reading.
