I read pretty much anything, from fantasy (City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett) to romance (Bared to You by Sylvia Day) to classics (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad).  The only genres I don't read are self-help and comic books/graphic novels.

'Twas the Night After Christmas - Sabrina Jeffries

8/07 - This was just above average, 2.5 stars really.  I didn't really feel any sexual tension between Pierce and Camilla and in all 354 pages there was only 1.5 sex scenes (the first was interrupted before anyone got naked).  I think Jeffries did too much of a good job at describing Camilla as a dowdy widow, I couldn't see Pierce being interested in her at all - it made more sense to me that he was temporarily mistressless and she was temporarily handy and so why not.  I didn't feel like his mother's reasoning for refusing to explain why she abandoned Pierce to distant relatives was realistic.  She must have known how he felt about her after that abandonment, did she really think any explanation she could give was going to make the situation worse than it already was?  The situations and reasons for the characters behaviour seemed quite contrived, not natural reactions.  Not as good as some of her earlier books.
